Everything about the new minivan

Starting in 2026, you’ll be exploring Portugal with Portugal Nomads in a brand-new minivan. Our old Fiat Doblo is making way for a roomier, stylishly furnished Fiat Scudo, the perfect minivan for your Portuguese road trip!

After a long search for the perfect minivan for Portugal, we settled on the Fiat Scudo. It’s nimble enough to navigate city streets, while still offering enough space for more comfort than just a bed. Since it’s the long-wheelbase L3 version, it also provides more room and comfort than smaller vans such as the Fiat Doblo.

The van has a manual transmission and comes equipped with a modern media screen and rear-view camera. Power comes from a handy auxiliary battery that recharges automatically while you’re driving. That’s usually more than enough, but just to be safe, we’ll also provide you with a power bank. Need to charge up even more? Most campsites let you buy access to electricity.

When you enter through the sliding door, the first thing you see is a kitchen area with a built-in fridge and a sink connected to two water tanks (for clean and dirty water). If you look to the left, you'll spot a spacious double bed measuring 140×200 cm, complete with bedding and fresh linens. The comfortable mattress consists of two parts and sits on a pull-out frame, allowing you to transform the bed into a bench during the day. The minivan is tastefully finished with wood and features various cabinets to store your belongings. There's also plenty of space under the bed for larger items like bags.

With our old minivans, we often received feedback that it could get (too) warm inside – understandable, given the climate in the Algarve. That's why we've now opted for maximum airflow, featuring a roof window with electric ventilation, folding windows, and air conditioning while driving.

We'll provide you with a cooking stove and all the necessary cooking gear to cook for yourself during your trip. Additionally, the minivan has a large awning that you can extend, so you can relax in the shade at your own outdoor table with chairs.
