You book your flights yourself, which gives you the flexibility to choose where you want to depart from and allows you to stay a few extra days in Lisbon if you want. On the first day of the road trip, you are expected at Lisbon Airport (LIS) at 3:00 PM. Please note that it can take up to an hour to receive your luggage at the airport. From there, you will be transferred to our Portuguese office in Lisbon where you will get the minivan.

There, our ranger will be ready with a welcome drink and you'll receive a detailed briefing on how to use the minivan and everything that comes with it. You will also receive the roadbook.

Now you can really start your road trip! The first campsite is about an hour's drive between Ericeira and Sintra. Within walking distance, you'll find stunning cliffs by the ocean. Relax by the pool or explore the city of Ericeira.

In recent years, Ericeira has developed into an absolute hotspot for surfers, digital nomads, and nature lovers. The old town is characterized by the white houses with blue decorations, making it a great place to explore on foot.

On weekends, various bars and restaurants are open. Want to grab a drink in Ericeira in the evening? Get your minivan ready and book an Uber to the town.

Today, you’ll drive just half an hour to the next campsite near Cascais. You can fill your day in various ways.

Explore the town of Ericeira (again): start your morning with a scenic walk from Matadouro to Praia de Ribeira d’Ilhas along the cliffs, or take a surf lesson.

Or discover Sintra, a magical town. Climb the vividly colored Pena Palace for an amazing view of the Atlantic Ocean, stroll through the ruins of the medieval Moorish castle, or visit one of the many gardens.

The campsite is located by the ocean at the charming coastal town of Cascais and has a swimming pool and restaurant. Walk along the promenade with golden beaches and the picturesque fishing harbor, or check out the dramatic cliffs at Boca do Inferno where the waves crash against the rocks.

Just a 15-minute drive away, you’ll find Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of Europe (excluding Iceland).

Today you’re driving towards the Algarve to the town of Aljezur near Arrifana.  This is the longest route (3.5 hours) of your journey through Portugal, but you can make countless stops along the way.

You can drive via Ponte de 17 Abril through Lisbon to Almada. Make a stop at Santuário de Cristo Rei for a beautiful view over the capital.

Further along the route, you can visit Praia de Odeceixe, a unique beach with black rocks. Here, you can hike or take a dip in the ocean.

Prefer to keep driving and relax? Just a 15-minute drive from the campsite is Praia da Amoreira, and there’s a swimming pool available. The campsite is located in the village of Aljezur, where you’ll find an old castle and some nice restaurants.

The next morning, you can take a surf lesson at Praia do Arrifana, a true must-do during your trip through Portugal! Arrifana is a paradise for (beginner) surfers, making it the perfect spot to catch your first waves.

Not a fan of surfing? No problem! Close to Arrifana is one of the most beautiful sections of the Fisherman’s Trail, a trail located along Portugal's coastline. The hike from Pontal da Carrapateira to Praia de Amado and back offers breathtaking views.

After an active day, you’ll drive about an hour from Arrifana to the charming coastal village of Salema, where you'll stay at an idyllic eco-camp. There’s a cozy and great restaurant here serving organic food and pizzas.

On the way, you can make a stop in Sagres. Here you'll find Praia do Beliche, our favorite beach in Portugal, the old fort Fortaleza de Sagres, and Cabo de São Vicente, where it feels like you’re at the end of the world.

A 15-minute drive away, you’ll find the villages of Burgau and Luz. Both have a charming village square and stunning views of the ocean. From Luz, you get a great view of Rocha Negra, a unique rock formation.

Start your day with a boat trip from Lagos to spot dolphins and see the cliffs and caves from the water. After that, explore the town of Lagos: stroll along Ponta da Piedade, take a dip at Praia Dona Ana or Praia do Camilo, or enjoy the charming streets and restaurants.

Tonight, you'll stay at a small campsite in Silves. Walk through the town, visit the old castle, and wrap up the day by the water basin or enjoy the sunset among the avocado trees.

Today, one of the most beautiful hikes in perhaps all of Europe is on the agenda: the Seven Hanging Valleys Trail. It's a 10-kilometer walk along the coastline with the most impressive cliffs. Along the way, you can take a dip at one of the many beaches you’ll encounter on the route. Our favorite beach is Praia do Carvalho, which you can only access through a narrow tunnel in the rocks.

After the hike, you can visit Carvoeiro, a charming coastal town. The village square is right next to the beach, and there's always something happening here.

After an active morning, you'll drive on to Fornalhas Novas, a region known for its sprawling vineyards. Here, you'll spend the night among the grapes at a vineyard and can join in the wine tasting at the winery where you're staying!

Start your day with a beautiful ride through Arrábida Natural Park. This panoramic coastal route takes you along cliffs, green hills, and hidden bays with crystal-clear water. Along the way, you can stop at various viewpoints.

After that, you can explore the charming coastal town of Sesimbra or go on a kayaking trip. You’ll paddle past caves, cliffs, and secluded beaches with crystal-clear water, highlighted by the hidden beach Praia do Ribeiro do Cavalo. 

Tonight, you'll sleep in Costa da Caparica, just outside Lisbon and close to our office where you will return the minivan the next morning. Surf the waves along the coast or enjoy one last time at the beach. Do you want to wrap up your trip with one final evening in Lisbon? Then take an Uber to the city for a perfect end to your adventure.

Day 8 marks the end of your adventure, time to head back home. From Costa da Caparica, you'll make a quick drive to our office in Lisbon, where you'll return the minivan clean by 10:00 AM. After that, we'll transfer you to Lisbon Airport (LIS), where you'll arrive by 1:00 PM at the latest.
